Question on experiences with missing cards via auction
Hey everyone, was wondering what the normal procedure is for missing cards from won auctions.
I won this auction: https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c...=MyBids-101116 It clearly says 14 cards in the title. Clearly lists 14 cards in the description. Also, only shows 13 cards in the photos. I purchased the lot thinking I would get 14 cards, but a small part of me feared only getting 13. On the paperwork I provided with my money order I wrote and underlined "Please verify you are sending 14 cards". Sure enough, the mail shows up today and only 13 e95 baseball cards. The 13 in the picture, missing the PSA 6 Lord. Also of note, there was a PSA 6 E95 Lord from the same auction: https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball/1...umbnail-071515 I called them but it was after hours and sent an email. Just curious on other experiences that were similar to this one. Thanks for any insight. Peirce. |
I would give it a day or two, they probably will respond to your email and make things right.

Tough one......although Lord is listed in the description, the picture only shows 13.

A few years ago I had a similar experience with Goodwin. I purchased a group of T3s, but received 1 less card than I should have. Ultimately, they ended up issuing a partial refund for the missing card, but the way they handled it (delays, the check is in the mail, etc) made me not want to deal with them again. I would give it a few days to let them see if they can identify what went wrong and propose a solution. Hopefully Heritage does a better job handling it than Goodwin did.

While the mistake is definitely on their end, I have been interested in lots with discrepancies before and I always bring them to the attention of the auction BEFORE I bid.

"Offered is a 14-card partial set of E95 Philadelphia Caramel cards from 1909" Also, I focused on the description moreso than the pictures. Transcribing the description to my excel file to show grade/company/player to match with the set and my previous purchases. It wasn't until post bidding for bidders did I even realize there was an odd number of cards in the photo. My previous bid was enough to win the auction through the extended time. |
If you have a question it is always a good idea to call before the auction is over.

Hi Pierce, I'm sorry. Obviously we made a mistake here, it does happen. Normal procedure for Heritage is we will cancel the sale and give you a full refund. I'll start the process this when I get in the office tomorrow. You'll hear from someone by the afternoon. Again, sorry for our error. We answer many questions for various reasons and in the future if you, or anyone, sees what might be a discrepancy on a lot you're interested in, just ask. Peter |
