Just Paid for this Cool Photo: Attachment 311330 Attachment 311331 Supposedly, Durocher taught Whitlow to be mean on the field. I found him to be a true gentleman. Of course, that was after he retired. |
Have you ever read Pat Jordan's book "A False Spring"? He talks a lot about Whit while he was coaching in the Braves minor league system.

How are you related to Whit? |

My grandmother was his wife's cousin. He was also the first Pitching Coach for the Atlanta Braves and, when the family attended a home game that year (1966), he helped me down into the dugout before the game and gave me a team-signed ball...Aaron, Niekro, Mathews, Torre, etc. packs- I have read 'False Spring', 'A Nice Tuesday, & parts of 'The Suitors of Spring' - all three by the aforementioned Pat Jordan. It has been a few years, however, and now may be a good time to re-read them. |
Raymond, very cool. Thanks for sharing.
