Pricing Sites

I’m a VCP member and have used that site for several years. In the last year, however, I’ve found the site less reliable. Many of the sale prices are wrong and they’re missing a lot of sales. Can anyone recommend another site? Thanks!

Im just curious how a sales price can be wrong? I thought it captured the final price? Maybe on eBay its wrong from the make an offer, as the public can't see the price. But auction house sites they publish the final price including the BP I thought.

I have not used VCP but know many forum members quote and rely on it. I have used an app called sortsof. I have only used for a couple months. Not sure how reliable or complete it is.

I never trust vcp with BIN prices, just auctions. I like pricerealized as well but I've recently been geting denied access there due to "privacy problems" when I go there.

If it's for PSA cards, they added free historical prices on their site in December. Only goes back 1.5 years from eBay, but about 15 years of auctionhouse data. If you see an error (wrong price, wrong card/cert #, multiple cards in one auction lot), you can report and PSA will fix the entry.

Here are some thoughts on that....
1. VCP lately doesn't seem to be as current, meaning slower to post sales, therefore missing the most recent few. I've seen this on several occasions.
2. VCP doesn't seem to be getting auction house sales recently. Haven't seen many Heritage, Sterling Sports, or others. When looking up results, you typically see only ebay listings. Without those results, you aren't getting the full picture.
3. Their software gets confused at times because of how the ebay listing title is done. If it reads "1969 Topps Reggie Jackson BVG 7 like PSA" it will often show up as a PSA 7 sale. Other misreads (OC card read as straight grade, for example) can skew averages.
4. VCP picks up BIN and Best Offer sales pretty well. But when you message a seller rather than use the Best Offer function (or when there is no Best Offer option) asking if they will take $xxx, vcp will not pick up a reply with an offer from the seller. Say a card is listed at $125 and you message the seller and offer $99. The seller can reply with an offer that if accepted becomes official. If you purchase at $99 in that manner, VCP will likely pick up the sale at the listed $125.

For PSA graded cards, psacard.com is now offering Auction Prices Realized free. It's definitely worth a look, but like VCP it is not the most up-to-date and correct. Since both have their shortcomings, I have been using both and comparing the two. I was hoping the PSA tool would be good enough to get me to stop paying for vcp, but that has not yet been the case.

Both are using software that is integrating with Ebay software, primarily reading the info in the Item Description. But there are flaws in that, as described in my previous post.

www.cardtarget.com is a free one I use occasionally. Has the 4 major sports.

Thanks for everyone’s input.

I have found errors in both BIN and auctions. Fortunately, most of the errors have been obvious - usually the price is super low compared to other sales.
