eBay Product Ratings - Total Crap

Why does eBay display these product ratings on auctions when they have nothing to do with the actual item or seller?

The ratings talk about the card but not the actual one that you might be selling. For example, I was selling a 59 Fleer Ted Williams # 68 (Ted Signs). The review mentioned that this card might be a fake even though the review was from a year ago and for a different seller. I received several inquiries from buyers asking about that. There are also reviews which might say the seller sucks even though they are talking about a different seller of that card.

These ratings are pointless and they do not help sales. They can only hurt them.

This has to do with something called structured data and search engine SEO. They are doing this for the entire site and not differentiating collectibles which leads to reviews for "similar-like" items and not identical items.

For the buyer who does not know that, they would end up thinking that the review is for the particular item they are bidding on.
