WOW... great stuff, and amazing images from the screenplay!
On a related note, here is an original 14" X 36" Insert Poster from the Movie. Somehow, it has remained in MINT condition. Perhaps someone here can rotate the pic. It looks fine on my computer, and I can't waste anymore time playing with it, as the site always changes it to a sideways view (regardless of its rotation). |

Will try one final time to post pics here. My gut tells me not to even try, but I do love the thread.
The final item pictured is Stan Rojek's Satin Home Jersey from 1948. These are coveted by Jersey collectors, as they were very short-lived. Management thought the shiny satin uniforms would help fans to see the players more clearly during night games. Night Baseball was still in its infancy state (and somewhat of a novelty). 1940s era lighting was anything but "state of the art". The Satin was nice idea but players hated these Unis, as they didn't "breathe", and looked like they were wearing pajamas. Thus, the very brief lifespan of the satin material. Really looks cool in person, though! I'm sure these pics will come out sideways as well... sorry in advance for that! |
Amazing stuff, Mark! That satin jersey is way different than I imagined it, having only seen black and white images.
Great satin jersey, Mark!!
Great stuff Mark. Even sideways your pieces look fantastic!!!
Nice stuff, Mark. Got'em rotated for you too.
Thanks everybody... and thanks Leon, for rotating those. Amazing how much difference that makes. Much appreciated!
Mark, that satin jersey is just about the coolest thing ever!

Does anyone remember this service station? Just thought this was very unique. Mobil used that logo version from 1955-1964.

The newest addition. Still have to do some adjusting to get it the way I would like it. These Pennants are just so fascinating to me. They all tell a story and are works of art.
Anyone might have info on these?

This is the one Dodgers piece I have which is from the tail end of the Brooklyn Dodgers era. It’s a mini mug or stein stanped on the bottom Bill’s Specs out of Milwaukee. I had the entire National League at one point (minus the Cardinals) and held onto the three teams that have moved including the New York Giants and the Milwaukee Braves. The Braves stein says 1957 National League Champions on back.
