Post Yer Shiny Foil Crap!
Let's pay tribute to the best of the worst...I like the ol' foil:
1997 Pinnacle Summit Above and Beyond. Silver foil in hand but they scan a rainbow of colors: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...%20Mussina.jpg 1998 Pacific Die Cut. More silvery foil https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...c%20Thomas.jpg 1996 Pinnacle Starburst. A wealth of foil color: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...rst%20Sosa.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...%20Griffey.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...%20Bagwell.jpg 1997 Topps Stadium Club Matrix https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...ix%20Boggs.jpg 1997 Fleer Ultra Double Trouble: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...e%20Rivera.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...ddux-Jones.jpg 1996 Pinnacle Power. Shiny foil and die cut overlays. Yay! https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...r%20Piazza.jpg 1997 Topps Hall Bound https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...d%20Piazza.jpg |

Here is a bunch of FOIL from my early collecting days! Love this tread already. Makes me want more crap for some reason.

LOL, Dustin...the stuff is like card crack. I go to the store near my office (Burbank Sportscards) every week or two and riffle through 5000 count boxes looking for cards from sets I enjoy at $0.50 per card. Since I basically didn't collect from 97-now, I am making up for a lot of lost time.

Great stuff. I wish I could post pictures here. Adam, I share your affinity for Dufex culture.

Does it diminish the value of a refractor to peel the coating? I hate having that junk on there and that keeps me from buying things like mirror gold cards.
|
Adam- i'm not sure if peeling them hurts the value. I do know they look much better without it.
|
I've always looked at the coating as an outlast. They issued them both with and without. I figured people would eventually peel because they're so ugly and the population of cards with coating would go down over time. I'm probably just looking way to much into something that really doesn't matter.

I can't believe this set is 22 years old...

After peeling them there was a weird smell that I loved for some reason. I would buy packs just to peel them, I would even peel my friends cards lol. The coating does not effect the grade with or with out but but there is a premium for the coating to remain unpeeled. |
