Tiger Woods
That is all.
Did I mention Tiger Woods?
It would be something.
Looks healthy. Hanging in there nicely. I'll be pulling for him tomorrow.
his putting looks good, yet he hasn't bombed in a couple like he used to. He could easily have a lead, but man his driving and short game have jumped a huge amount in a few short weeks
wow crazy stat, Jordan Speith has more career missed cuts than Tiger.
Short game was always his strength.
Driver, not so much. |

It's been fun to watch so far. Hopefully he's competitive all year.
just missing on putts he makes when he's winning
A great tournament all things considered. Although no one enjoys finishing second I have to assume he's pleased with the way he played. Looking forward to watching the Masters.

Tiger needs to get his driver figured out by Augusta. He will need it there.
The new "twist face" Taylor Made isn't getting any help from him:) |
Driver has always been an issue for him. But back to back top 5s when he's still figuring things out should have the field concerned. Great for the game to see him back on the leader board.
And his driving has already drastically improved since the beginning of the year, just that his highest profile drive, #16 at Bay Hill, went astray, but if you look at his driver numbers they've gotten better each tournament.

Even in his prime I don't think he ever ranked high in driving accuracy or fairways hit. Obviously the rest of his game was good enough to make up for it. I tried to Google the stats and saw that in 08 he was ranked #1 but #169 in driving accuracy.
It sounds like he's pain free now though and hit quite a few shots that reminded me of what he was doing a few years ago. |

Some interesting points in there. I'm sure a lot of that is true, but the other guys have their stats lowered by balls barely in the first cut too. I just remember some rounds when everyone was hitting driver on a certain hole and he'd take out a 3 wood or even a low iron and assumed it was because he didn't trust the driver. He was always great at getting out of trouble though, and those were some of the most remarkable shots of his career.

Yea I remember one in particular that was something like 220 yards away in a bunker, I believe coming down the stretch of a major. He hit it within a few feet for a birdie and won the tournament. I might have the details wrong, but it was a hell of a shot.
