SOLD: Ty Cobb check w/JSA - GREAT example

Beautiful Ty Cobb signed check with no punch holes over the signature, filled out and signed by Cobb. Perfect for matting and framing and comes with a full JSA photo letter. A tad over 3" x 8"

$1,450 or best offer - Paypal, shipping included

Runscott 03-01-2018 12:32 PM

**or best offer**

Runscott 03-02-2018 06:30 PM

Haha. I'm finding out I should have said "best REASONABLE offer".

If you don't have an idea as to value, it's easy to google using terms like: 'Ty Cobb', check and autograph. I admittedly got a good deal on it, but I'm perfectly happy to pass on most of that deal.

How about the amount on the check? Hahaha, wish I could buy it. Great looking signature. GLWTS

joshuanip 03-03-2018 08:04 AM

Ever thought of encapsulating with psa? It’s a really strong Cobb signature.

Runscott 03-08-2018 11:29 AM

I have never had an autograph authenticated, but have had many that came with LOA's - I much prefer the LOA's (like this JSA one) to encapsulation, as it keeps it in a state ready for matting and framing.

Still looking for offers, moving to ebay as well.

Sold. I have had a number of member try to educate me as to what Cobb checks should be sold for. Everything from $450 - $1,100. Since I will probably not be acquiring any more (I originally bought this one to frame with a photo), I will help low-ballers with their Cobb check data:

this one went for $1,190 + shipping, sold on ebay.

Sophiedog 03-16-2018 07:24 PM

Someone offered $450?

There’s a lot of idiots out there.....

Congrats on the sale Scott.

joshuanip 03-16-2018 08:54 PM

$450 was the price... 20+ years ago!

Lordstan 03-16-2018 09:04 PM

Congrats Scott. That is a very fair price for it

Runscott 03-17-2018 02:24 PM

I had two ridiculous experiences with ebayers who were trying to convince me I should sell it cheaper. One guy prefaced every PM with repeating the fact that he is a respected autograph dealer who pays $450-600 for Cobb checks and has a customer who he plans to sell it to for $900 or less.

In any event, after fees I lost about $20 but was happy to divest myself of the angst associated with selling vintage baseball memorabilia.

Congrats Scott!

Awesome check at a fair price.

Congrats Scott!

Awesome check at a fair price. Curious as to where those folks were getting their pricing data... Cobb cuts close around 700. And that check was gorgeous...

Sooooo, you were supposed to feel good about selling it to him for $450 because he was only going to be reselling it for $900?

I believe that was the same joker on the bay who was constantly emailing me and telling me the same spiel when I had my Cobb on ebay. They're a dime a dozen and he gets them for $400-$600 on a regular basis. BLAH BLAH BLAH..Sold my encapsulated PSA 9 on here for $1125..could have maybe got a little more at a different time of year...but no 13% off the top and it was a win/win for me and the buyer... which it should be without saying..but unfortunately isn't always the case these days.

A big THANK YOU for leaving the price out there, to help educate us all. I appreciate knowing what the market is on this site. IMO, it helps educate all us potential buyers.
