Amadee print info
Afternoon, does anyone know anything about this print? Grabbed it on eBay last week for what I thought was a great price for how cool it is, but know nothing about it besides that the artist was a well-known sports cartoonist who passed away in 2014 at the age of 102 (thanks Wikipedia).

I bought one for Municipal Stadium off eBay about ten years ago or so. Don't know much about them other then I got it pretty cheap if I remembered.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah this was cheap, $23 total and was even unexpectedly shipped in the frame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Here’s another I found on Google Images, for Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium. And it appears there’s an early-mid 80’s book called “Take Me Out to the Ballpark” that features some of his work, wonder if it’s from there.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...825c2baaeb.jpg

I have that Orioles print. Got it cheap about five years ago. I haven't taken it out of the mailing tube since it arrived. One day I'll clear some wall space for it. they are neat items with an old school Sporting News vibe.

I have been dying for a Yankee Stadium one for years. Just haven't pulled the trigger on one just yet.
I seem to remember seeing these in Baseball Digest back in the late 70's, early 80's we I read them as a kid or am I mistaken? Mike |
I believe they were somehow tied to The Sporting News

Found another online discussion about them here: http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/..._sporting_news
Also, an Ebay auction that, if accurate, solves the mystery: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CIRCA-1983-...E/263392739726 Auction says "Produced by the Sporting News in 1983 in conjunction with the publication of the classic stadium book, "Take Me Out to the Ballpark," this suitable-for-framing lithograph by notable cartoonist Amadee features great moments at Tiger Stadium and head shot illustrations of Hall-of-Famers Al Kaline and Ty Cobb." |
