1985 Topps Pop Report
Question for the Pop Guys.
Just got in about 3000 1985 topps card all pack fresh. I wanted to possibly look for 10's of commons with low pops before I sell them. Is this worth it? I see some with a 1-4 pop. What would a common be worth as a 10 with a low pop? |
Prior sales on COMC:
#6 Pete Rose $26 #308 John Wathan $17 #381 Roy Smith $31 #544 Bruce Kison $17 #565 Kirk Gibson $22 #625 Mark Langston $12 #638 Mike Pagliarulo $29 #775 Mookie Wilson $25 I figure you can look up the previous eBay/auctionhouse sales on PSA's website. |
I tried using VCP but these just don't trade. I know the stars, but I'm talking about the scrubs with a POP of 1 or 2.
What would those trade for do you think? |
Looks like guys are asking $100 - $150 on ebay for Population 1 and 2 commons. Actual sales a Pop 2 went for $22.50 at ebay auction. Pop 3 and 4 only going around $10 -$15 actual sales.

Maybe you need a subscription to worthpoint.com ; I don't have one. I would say your market is pretty small though. There are only 3 people attempting to complete this set on PSA's registry that have over half complete:

Wow roughly 74.47% of the 85's graded belong to Clemens - 21,867, McGuire - 43,423 and Puckett - 6830...
Would this set be worth the expense down the road? |
You mean to submit your cards for grading and then sell as a set? No.
Even if PSA does a $5.50 special for modern cards, it would probably take submitting 2-3x the set size of like 800 cards, so let's say 2000 cards at $5.50 plus shipping and you're looking at maybe $12K. |
See if you can find out what cards are difficult to find centered or without print marks (like the 1978 Molitor/Whitaker). Those might bring a decent return- if you find one that isn't flawed of course.
