T206 Find with 73 Tolstoi Cards + 2 Lenox Cards
1 Attachment(s)
We just acquired an interesting find of T206 baseball tobacco cards, which originated from a single-owner estate in Minnesota, and despite only being 77 cards, it contains an astounding 73 cards with Tolstoi backs (incl. 12 HOF w/ Cobb), a pair of Lenox backs (Marquard & Abbaticchio) & a pair of EPDG. This was a first in our 29 years of dealing...a T206 tobacco card collection with no Piedmont, Sweet Caporal or Polar Bear cards!!!
The collection also includes several boxing cards, including some Red Sun & Tolstoi, along with some track & field, and many other non-sports cards from the era. Regarding the T206 Tolstoi tobacco baseball cards, they are all previously known players on the confirmed list compiled by Ted Zanidakis. Regards, Bryan Dec |
Nice pickup, Bryan.

Congrats, that is very cool. Boxing were T218's?
|
Which boxing cards?
|
Very cool pickup Bryan!
|
boxing portion
The boxing includes 28 T220's (all with Tolstoi backs), plus a large group of T218's (Tolstoi & Hassan backs), along with 4 Red Sun boxing cards, etc.
|
Astounding! That is a spectacular selection. Great pickups!
|
Thanks for sharing Bryan. I love hearing about finds like this. Awesome.
|
Congrats Bryan, nice find. Would appear to be an original mid-west find, not very common. Not what I collect but interesting just as well.
I'll ask what everyone else is wondering . . . Are these auction bound, will they hit the show circuit, or other? Congrats Again! |
Very cool. Would be interested in seeing the list of specific players.
|
Wow ! Very nice must be awesome. Where did the find take place?
|
Im glad to hear of the recent find. Dedicated Tolstoi smoker pretty cool.

Interesting haul of non-common T206 cards.
Let me know if my memory is inaccurate, but I seem to remember it being mentioned that Minnesota was a distribution area for Tolstoi and El Principe De Gales T206 cards. Perhaps some of the other more common brands were not available there? Brian |
Very cool find! That guy loved his Tolstoi Cigarettes!
Not surprising that Lenox and Tolstoi would be found together as they shared a few of the same sets in the non-sports world T79 & T80 Military series. They were "sister brands" in some respects. |
Any silver borders in the T220's? How are you planning on selling these?
|
Great stuff! If you need help with the boxing let me know or talk with Gary - good to talking with you at the last Philly Show - good luck in 2018, your off to a great start

Tolstoi Cards
I recently had several of the Tolstoi cards & the Marquard Lennox graded by SGC, and the first offering of the Tolstoi cards are currently on eBay, under seller JKAYMAC:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_ssn..._ipg=100&rt=nc As always, if any Net54 members are interested in the Marquard, or any other fixed price items, I will give a discount outside of eBay. Thanks, Bryan Dec |
