1954 Topps Hockey Question
A fellow collector and I were talking yesterday at a show. He is a long time Hockey collector/dealer who I trust his opinion on all things hockey. A couple of "old timers" we're telling him that the 54 cards were inserted into a bread issue (one card per loaf). I had never heard this before but the others swear they remember pulling those cards out of the bread packaging. Anyone ever heard of this?

Well I'm a hockey guy but don't profess to be an expert. Not sure on the '54 Topps, but '55 Parkhurst were available in Quaker Oats products which I think included some other bakery products.

Thanks. I will pass the info along.
|
My recollection is 1954 Topps hockey was sold in one cent packs.

I checked out the '54 set info on PSA and Cardboardconnection and neither suggest any alternative distribution aside from packs.

Distribution
Cards were offered in either 5 cent packs (6 cards) or as mentioned one cent packs with one card in each. I have never heard of them being offered with food.
