Hi Max,
I have a nice Red Ames in my own collection of vintage no-hit pitchers. If it would help, I am willing to post it. FYI, Jake Weimer has been on my want list for a long time (20 years) and I have not been able to even sniff an autograph of him. If anyone has an exemplar to offer I would be grateful to see what his autograph looks like as well... Thanks! |

And here are a few Schlei exemplars. The first is his will. The second is his WWI draft card. Third is his WWII draft card.

Thanks for providing a peek at "Hurricane" Jakes autograph. Do you own this autograph? Just curious... |
You’re welcome Scott. No I don’t own it, but I’ve got a great deadball exemplar database that I created over the years.

I have Marquard, Bridwell, Snodgrass, Doyle, and Meyers on T206s. Here’s Herzog on an M101-2 from the Doc Steen collection.

One more Addition
I wanted to bump this thread to show of my newest acquisition. I had a Buck Herzog too which ended up not passing PSA/DNA unfortunately.

.
I have never submitted an autograph for authentication through PSA-DNA. But I found myself looking through a couple of the autograph collections posted in the PSA-DNA registry. That in turn generated a PSA-DNA question that would be most grateful to learn the answer to. If an ballplayer name has a "Spec Number" (in this case, beginning with the letters SR) next to the name, does that mean that PSA-DNA has passed that item as authentic ? Of course, I understand and accept that PSA-DNA is far from infallible. The item that caught my eye in the PSA-DNA autograph registry is that for Bugs Raymond. Spec number: SR3492678. While I have never encountered, let alone heard of an example existing, I have also learned never to say never. Stories such as those about the filing cabinets stored/forgotten in the bowels of old Tigers Stadium (Win Mercer signed contract ?) spark dreams of a modern day jackpot. And while unlikely, Bugs Raymond was once a former Detroit Tiger too, and a players contract must have existed at one time for him. {Edited} This link to Old Cardboard discussion from 2012 would seem to support more the "never", than the dream http://www.net54baseball.com/archive...?t-151585.html My thanks to everyone that might help me better understand whether the PSA-DNA spec number has any relationship to whether a authenticated autograph example exists. |
Bugs Raymond autograph . . .
.
Found myself browsing through the list of autographs that comprised the large lot from Jack Smalling, as sold by Heritage Auctions last May. Did not notice before, but listed within that lot was a letter signed by Bugs Raymond. Too bad Heritage did not provide a image of that item within the auction listing. Would have loved the opportunity to view such an autograph. |

Fred Merkle! |
Bravo on Merkle! Nice presentation in that HA slab as well!
|
This is probably the final piece I will get from the team set. Over all I am super happy with how the project went
