Really cool to have the reference. The T227 image of Cobb is actually a pretty poor representation of the actual image.

That image is also on one of his T5s (not my card).

Famous Conlon image raises a red flag to me.

What is the exact size of the postcard?

The "This Side for Address" would seem to indicate the postcard stock was from early 1907 or earlier.

With a 1910 image.

I am new to PCs, but was curious about a back that looks to me like it ought to have an RPPC front but instead seems to have a lithograph like an Exhibit.

The back would suggest a litho card and not a real-photo one.

Have many other concerns about it though.

Me too. Not to mention it looks 100% even rounding on all 4 corners.....

Thanks for the input. The images posted were sent to me by a collector asking if I was familiar with the card and value.

Without having the card I can't respond to the the questions raised. However Jeff's observation that the image is 1910 is interesting especially when put together with the postcard's undivided back which should date no later than 1907. (Is this true of Exhibit Card Postcards too?)

Several years ago I came across a number of B&W postcards featuring high demand subjects, Indian Motorcycles, Carnivals, Baseball Subjects...I bought a Jim Thorpe hunting postcard....when received I realized that the front was a copy of a Thorpe photo adhered to a postcard. There were a couple give a ways, the front photo was very grainy, the backs were not consistent with the supposed age of the image/postcard and the postcard felt thicker than an original postcard. May be this is similar, without the card I can't be sure.

I'll send a link for this post to the collector for his review and response.

Looks like a Frankenstein piece, front from a newspaper or magazine glued to a postcard back to try and make something worth $20,000. Just a hunch, I could be wrong but I doubt it. BTW I think that is a Van Oeyen image.

Here is a Conlon Collection 1984 postcard from eBay. I'm betting our specimen here is a closer relation than it would care to admit.

I'll get back to him that the postcard appears to be a copied image from the Conlon Collection postcard set adhered to an old postcard. I'll also send him the image of the Conlon postcard.

He may have had this card offered to him for purchase and contacted me for a opinion before going forward and buying. I don't know, I'll ask.

I almost hate to mention it, but I got fooled and stuck with a Wolverine News PC counterfeit Cobb over a year ago; it also fooled a number of PC experts. When Scott at SGC determined it was bogus, he said something about the pixels being wrong, something I never would have picked up. Point is there are many high quality counterfeits out there and as printing technologies continue to advance they will become harder to spot.

My bad, I was thinking of this guy that I still kick myself for not buying on ebay which is probably why it was on my brain.

It's not coming from Ohio is it? I recently purchased a Cushman Motor Scooter Oil advertising postcard on ebay and when I got it I could tell right away it was a frankenstein card. I emailed the seller and told him and he didn't even reply back he just refunded me. I looked at his other stuff and sure enough this guy is creating all kinds of fakes. I tried to email him back, but he blocked me.

Yikes, looks like it. This wasn't a great fake but I know they are getting better, for sure. Be especially careful on ungraded rare back T206s and Type 1 Coupons, especially coming out of CA.
