FBI Panels
2 Attachment(s)
Any FBI collectors out there. I picked up a handful of these back in the 1980s on a trip to Toronto. They are printed on the back of this little cardboard carton that holds 6 cartons of fruit juice. They are very rarely seen auctioned. There are only 6 Ryan graded (only 1 PSA 3 is better than my PSA 2), 2 Brett (my PSA 2 is the highest) and 3 Rose (my PSA 4 is the highest) .
These are obviously much rarer than their TF&D cards but I guess of little interest to most collectors. http://www.net54baseball.com/newatta...anageattach&p= |
FBI Panels
I’m sure they are very interesting to player collectors, but very scarce and rarely are available for sale.
|
The larger interest seems to sit with certain players. Overall they are scarcely seen for sale, but I have seen several panels sit unsold on eBay too. Either lackluster players or perhaps a bit too optimistically priced?
I have the two Garvey discs. Have only seen an additional 1-2 more ever offered for sale. |

I've been looking for the 1982 Ellis Valentine forever, never seen this one either. |

I thought I had a better scan of the 1981 FBI Dave Kingman disc, but this was all I could find.
|
These are real tough, I think it took us a while to get a complete checklist at Beckett back in the day.

I've got a Schmidt box/panel that I'm really lucky to have picked up back in the day.
|
I've never even heard of these. What in heck does FBI stand for (no lame political jokes, please :))?

Just kidding of course. In this case i believe it stands for Fanta Beverage Inc. |
Blank-backed?
Thanks for posting this. I’m a Rollie Fingers collector and haven’t seen this before.
Are these blank-backed? |

Back in the day I picked up a Winfield box for my Yankee collection. And a few years back I got a Raines half box and another complete box on the bay. Not expensive and since Raines was doing well in Hof ballot thought any rare 81 issue of his had potential. But as was said before almost too scarce so very few collect.I will post pics later.

Just picked up this Seaver-Valentine complete box. I bought it for the Ellis Valentine but the Seaver was a nice bonus.
|
I love these! I have Gary Carter, Tim Raines and Ron Guidry panels.

Always a tough pickup. My dad got the Winfield in 82 Then nothing until about 2010 picked up the Raines half and Steib full box for under $20 for the pair. Tough issue. glad it is finding some love.

Well crap. Another one added to the list of Nolan Ryan cards I need.

Somebody just appeared on the psa board with this scan!
|
Holy smokes! Those are the much rarer 1981 FBI discs and some of them are uncatalogued. The known ones are Bruce Bochte, Rick Bosetti, George Brett, Jim Clancy, Warren Cromartie, Andre Dawson, Steve Garvey, Larry Hisle, Reggie Jackson, Dave Kingman, Jim Palmer, Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, and Gary Templeton, and just now Ellis Valentine (thanks, mrmopar :D). That means Bob Bailor, Bill Lee, Dave Parker, Larry Parrish, Steve Rogers, Elias Sosa, and Dave Winfield are new discoveries.
|
Glad to hear there is no 1981 FBI Seaver. I've always wondered if I needed to add that to my collection.
|
Steve Garvey, Dave Concepcion
I'm in the market for any FBI discs or panels with either Steve Garvey OR Dave Concepcion, and I'm ready to spend $ on them.
|
Totally cool. Thanks for sharing.

Found these at work today while cataloging, so it's not actually mine, but it's cool enough I wanted to share it with folks who would appreciate it

For my player collection I need to get a Rice. Even though I haven't seen any up for sale, I can tell that were I too, it would be too rich for my blood at this time.
