Pinback Buttons and Rust
 

For the pinback button collectors out there, do you ever do anything to treat or remove rust on the back? Thanks guys.

As we know rust happens with pinbacks you can take a soft cloth and run it around the back of the pin to take out some of the heavy rusting but in most cases what is already there has been there for years and unless it has bled into the front should stay stable for many years...

One good thing about rust it is reliable proof the pin is original.

Thanks, guys. I don't have too many pinbacks with rust, but recently purchased one that has a fair amount although thankfully it hasn't had any impact on the image on the front. I'll try wiping a bit of any loose particles off and hopefully it won't get any worse.
