Have You Vetted Your Trimmer?
1 Attachment(s)
One would think that the goal of trimming is to improve the appearance of your card, fool the TPG and get a higher numerical grade. Attachment 289105 and the description SELLING EXACT CARD PICTURED. A DEALER LOOKED AT THIS CARD AND SAID IT HAS BEEN TRIMMED AND THE EDGES ARE UNEVEN. I'M SELLING THIS CARD STRICTLY AS-IS AND UNKNOWN SINCE IT'S NOT BEEN PROFESSIONALLY CERTIFIED/GRADED. SEE THIRD PICTURE OUTLINING THE EDGES IF THIS CARD. I seriously doubt that the trimmer in this case has an authentic diploma. Disclaimer: This is not my card, nor do I know the seller in any way. I would also like to apologize in advance to Mr. Van Horn for outing an auction that he ordinarily would have.;) |
Did they trim that card with their teeth?

Scalloped scissors for a decorative touch.

The subject of trimming, altering, etc. reminds me of stupider days when I shipped off my very first T206 Ty Cobb, bat on shoulder to a company in CA who stated they could 'recondition' my card.
Months later, I paid about $60 (ransom) to have it return...I could not detect any changes made... lesson learned...fairly cheaply, though back then (1990), $60 was worth much more than it is today. . |
I know there aren't many local dealers left, but the ones that are seem to vouch for a lot of bad cards it seems.

Trimmers or HEDGE trimmers?
I require several references for my trimmers and check out their Facebook and yelp reviews! |
My vet trimmed my dog...you know where!

Ummm ....
I think they are vacillating around the poles of veracity .
