1969 Tresler Comet Bengals
Looking for your feedback/thoughts on this premium issue from the 60's. How were these cards acquired ? Could you buy the complete set or did you have to build it one card at a time? There are 4 short prints listed and are they legitimately short printed? How do these stack up against other premium issues from the 50's/60's. Maybe it's just me but I find myself getting more interested in non mainstream issues lately. Your thoughts!!

I don't know how legit the SPs are. In general these cards are pretty easy to find and cheap. They are one of the easiest regional sets to put together from the 60s in my opinion. I love the non mainstream issues too! jeff |
These are fantastic cards. It is my experience that the four short prints are considerably tougher to find than the others. Bob Johnson has been noted as the toughest, but in my experience Warren McVea is much more difficult to find than Johnson. To a lesser extent, the Gunner and Fest.
I would love to know the date that the Frank Buncom card was first issued. I collect autographed cards, and as Buncom died on September 14, 1969, a signed Buncom might not even be a possibility. |
Great info, Todd. And hope someday you find out the Buncom auto exists.
Here's a few of my favorites. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/TB...Q=w397-h640-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/m7...w=w397-h640-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ox...w=w397-h640-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/CP...A=w397-h640-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/mZ...Q=w397-h640-no jeff |
I love the look of those cards in the SGC holders. Anyone other than me wish PSA would do something different with the design of their slabs?

Great looking cards, the orange accents are superb.
