Bill Wilen's incredible collection is in the Huggins and Scott auction. He's spending time at their booth this week and there are copies of his new book on collecting Mantle available (also an electronic version online). It was very impressive. I saw a couple I might be bidding on.

Just received the book from Amazon yesterday and it is much more impressive than I was anticipating.

Sometimes when you order a book there is much more text than illustrations which makes for a disappointing read. Not the case here. Each card, 169 of them, is featured on it's own page with color front/rear photos, a brief description, recent auction/sale $$ results, Book Values, PSA census data etc.

Book also contains about 80 pages of Mantle Print Memorabilia: Photos, Pins, Coins, Postcards, Decals, Matchbooks, Statues, Tokens, Advertising Signs, Bottle Caps, Tattoos, Dolls, Stamps, Panels, Pamphlets, Stickers, Plaques, Linen Emblems, Rubb-Offs, Discs, Posters, Playing Cards etc.

Book is an oversized softcover, 240+ pages, about the size of a Auction House Catalog.

Well worth the price for Mantle fans and card collectors in general ... Steve
