Frustrating ebay transaction

So I win this auction:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Bazooka...p2047675.l2557

Expecting to get good looking clean boxes but for the tape on either end. The boxes arrive. I open the package only to find minor to major creases on 8 of the 12 boxes - many affecting some of the better cards in the set!!!!

Already requested a refund. To the sellers credit, they approved it immediately despite their "no return" policy. They sent me this message:

"Howard, I am sorry you are not happy with your purchase of the Bazooka football set. We thought the pictures represented the condition of the cards. We will refund your money after we receive the cards back. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Dianne"

Did I miss something here?

In hindsight the less than clear picture should have cautioned me, but their description seemed so clear......

If there were creases as you say, and it's hard to tell from the scans, then to me, he blew the auction description without mentioning them but mentioning the tape residue which can be seen. Is it sort of like he described what could be seen by the scans only and we know scans don't always do justice. I think you had every right to return because of that....others might have different views.

I'd have a hard time giving the seller the benefit of the doubt here. They sell cards, so they know creases impact value. They had no problem assigning an excellent grade to the set and they state that the tape is the only issue with them. Seems like a slam dunk return.

Creases are obviously of big concern to card collectors and they weren't mentioned. In fact, it is implied from the description that there would be no other damage than the tape residue.

However, they were good about return/refund.

It is relatively easy to photoshop to remove creases. I could see them on the Matt Snell card. It also looks like they were removed from the Roman Gabriel card and the one next to it.

What are you guys using for a monitor? Looking at the individual pics it's pretty easy to spot creases on 4 of them, with a 5th being less obvious but still there. I don't think they were photoshopped off.

Of course, at least a couple of them should have been mentioned in the description.

Agreed. You can see problems in the scans (look at the Unitas, for instance). But the seller was very misleading in stating/implying that the tape residue was the only problem. That's just plain silly, but I'm glad he's issuing a proper refund.

scans

"Less than clear scans"? The scans are sharp and can be enlarged. The creases are easy to spot. Are you using your phone or a PC?
