Babe Ruth Film
1 Attachment(s)
Just sniped this on eBay. Wasn't expecting to win it but I did. Any idea as to the value of it? I paid 67 bucks. It's original film of Ruth supposedly. Thanks guys.

Look at the sellers previous sales of these. I have seen these being sold for a long time. He has sold 18 of these recently. They average about what you paid. Some sold for more and some sold for less than $50. They are neat items.

Didn't realize this guy had others. Thanks for the heads up. Yea pretty cool stuff. Guess he does one a week haha |
Square holes centered on the frame rather than between frames would be super-8 film, introduced in 1965. 16mm with only one row of sprocket holes should have a soundtrack or magnetic strip.
So it's not original, not even to the period. It's probably six frames from a commercially produced highlights film, made by castle films, or "Official films" neither of which are all that valuable. Like this one https://www.ebth.com/items/1357849-1...baseball-movie Lets see, 18 frames /second, X 60 seconds times 10 min average length.... 10,800 frames divide by six.. 1800 lots at $50 each, $900 not bad at all! I should ask my friend who does films to keep an eye out for a badly damaged one I can get cheap. I don't have a copy of that film, but I do have a 16mm copy of an earlier Ruth film that's pretty cool. I'll have to get him to make a digital transfer and post it sometime. Steve B |

The current one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/600-Babe-Rut...3D302243127592 Someone paid $355 for one! http://www.ebay.com/itm/600-Babe-Rut...p2047675.l2557 Just search for "Babe Ruth film" and pick up one of the full versions. That and a fairly nice super 8 projector will run under 100 for both, and you can actually watch it. Or probably download it from youtube or somewhere. Steve B |
