Would this be a defect preventing a Gem Mint 10?
Looks like the actual card stock has an imperfection, however the original printing and gloss are in tact. This wasn't from an impact, but appears to be the way the card was manufactured. Would this little bump disqualify it from being a 10 or would it not effect the eye appeal.

yes. In My experience anything on a card will cause a lower grade, factory or not; including blemishes in the ink, stock and rough cuts

Ugh! Otherwise this would've been a 10 I think. Now it's probably not even worth submitting.

7.5 would be my guess.

It is visibly off center left to right.

I have 9s that have no visible flaw. 10s are tough. Only very minor print defects on certain cards and slight centering shifts are allowed. I would not waste time or money submitting that card. Just buy a psa 10.

Thanks guys

These are all the cards I pulled from packs and was planning on submitting. Guess I'll skip the Pete Roses since they are of center and the the Eric Davis due to the defect. The McGwire is already in its way for grading but doubt I'll get another ten. The centering looked in spec mathematically but the print doesn't look as good as the ten I just got graded. We will see I guess. The Puckett looks to be in spec in terms of centering. What you guys think.

Maybe the Carter on the left and the Strawberry. Wouldn't bother with the rest.

Don't know what you are looking at... The Mcgwire and Puckett both look too off center for 10's. Agree with Six with the Carter and Strawberry

I scanned the McGwire and blew it up and measured it's borders. Judging from the math it's 55/45 which meets the 10 qualification. However I don't think I'll be lucky to get two gem mint 10 McGwire's in one month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
For what it's worth, just because it's within the tolerance doesn't mean they will grade it exactly to that spec. The Puckett definitely will not get a 10, due to top-bottom centering. More likely an 8.

Yea I don't it will too but I'll probably send it anyway if I get vouchers. On a side note I read on the PSA website that the Tony Fernandez cards are extremely hard to find above a PSA 9 (population 3, 0 higher) because of its location on the uncut sheet. I have two from these rack packs and I'm thinking of submitting them just because of their rarity to find good examples of them. These are well centered and in mint condition. Think because of their low population and hard to find in such a grade that they will be worth submitting? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a98bb2efe5.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Top to bottom on that Puckett has always killed me.

I submitted everything except for the Rose's, one Carter and the Davis.

Just wanted to update. The Carter on the left came back a gem mint 10. The strawberry (one of two I subbed) both came back 9's. The Puckett, as called by swarmee, came back an 8. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Nice work on the Carter!
