Question about vintage gamers for you bat experts please
Is it cool to "oil" (or somehow treat?) a vintage bat? I recently picked one up, but it is really dry looking. It would be nice to make it shine again.
I know on my old gloves, I added some conditioner, and now they look great. Just not sure if that is a good idea with bats. Thanks, Sean |
I, personally, think it's fine. Some might disagree. I'm thinking you might try linseed oil in an inconspicuos spot and make sure it doesn't change the bat's color (by much).

Thanks!

Any oil will darken a bat . If you're planning on keeping it , go ahead and oil it .
There are also waxes you can use to shine the finish as well . |
Thanks everyone!
It did darken it a bit, but the linseed oil made it come out very nice. |
It is probably wrong but I use rubbing alcohol to clean the bat first. Then I use Murphy's Oil Soap. I also trace the Logo, model and name with a black sharpie. Then use a Q-Tip with a water based gloss to seal in the marker. I do this between the cleaning and use of Murphy's oil soap. It has worked for me with very nice results.
