Just two guys in a bidding war? Or what? Discuss.

still kicking myself for not listening to my financial adviser three months ago when he said he thought the market for cracker jacks would become very bullish in the spring. :(

I love the offbeat and non-sports cards. One of the cards I was focusing on was the Howard Hughes card from the 1936 Heinz Aviators set. Hughes' card in that set is a great rarity, and doesn't come up for auction too often. That being said, I am shocked by the price explosion of the card compared to previous auctions. In 2014, a PSA 5 of the Hughes cards sold for $657 with Legendary. In 2012, a PSA 4 sold for $478 with Legendary.

The Hughes card currently at REA is a PSA "5" and sits at $1,680 with the BP. Yikes, non-sports cards don't often double or triple like that in a couple years, especially in mid-grade.

I think it's a combination of:

a) really nice cards for the grade

b) the REA factor

I think its the REA factor. I have bids in on 10 lots (none are 1914 CJs) and every one is already over my max. Guess I can go to bed early tonight :)

What's the ratio of 1915 CJs to 1914 CJs?

1914s - 22 to about 100 examples of every card
1915s - 62 to about 200 examples of every card IIRC...
