OT Chuck Berry Passed Away at 90, RIP
I listen to Chuck Berry quite often and was very sad to hear he passed away yesterday. I can listen to him for hours. He will be missed by millions. Johnny B Goode has to be one of the greatest songs of all time!! RIP Chuck

I agree, saw this when I woke up this morning, very sad :(

I was stunned he was still with us!

One of Rock n Rolls founding fathers.
If you like the Beach Boys, you also like Chuck Berry since they basically ripped him off completely in all their early hits. I'm a big fan of both artists and not hating on the Beach Boys in any way but that is just a fact; one that not everyone knows... |
One of the greats. Saw him in the late 60s at my college concert.

RIP Legend

RIP Chuck!
I saw him perform in New Orleans in about 2012. New Orleans managed lots of shows from rock legends around then - I also saw Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. Unfortunately the one I wanted to see most, Fats Domino, gave up performing because he has crippling stage fright. |

I watched a 1958 version of johnny B. Goode, he was way ahead of his time.

A Legend for Multiple Generations
I saw him at Bercy in Paris. We were dancing on the floor about 40 rows back and had a great view as we were taller than most of the Europeans. He must have been in his mid 60s and he still danced the night away and rocked the house!

RIP Chuck. A true pioneer and entrepreneur.

An unbelievable performer, I grew up with Chuck Berry. One of my favorite early songs of his was "Maybellene" (when I was in High School - 1955).
I was at several Rock-n-Roll concerts (1960's - 1970's) where he put on quite a show. GOD Bless his soul....and, comfort his family. TED Z . |
Great performer.
If a young rock and roller today, say Lady Gaga, did half the terrible stuff he did in his lifetime believe me no one here would be delivering accolades. |

Not one of, but THE, most important single figure in rock 'n roll history. Unlike Elvis, for example, he not only sang but wrote songs (among the best ever)and played guitar (most influential guitarist in the genre).
However, in "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" he did write "2-3 the count" before guy hits one "into the sands." His local Cardinals did have a big day for him and did a Chuck Bobblehead. Cover of my magazine Crawdaddy in 1972. I edited the story. http://www.net54baseball.com/attachm...1&d=1490061744 |

Hot Nuts!
I love Chuck Berry's misic but I was surprised at his problems with the law. |
RIP Chuck. With all due respect to the great Elvis Presley, he and Little Richard are the true kings of rock 'n' roll.

Makes me laugh because when I complemented Lady Gaga on the watercooler board after the Super Bowl people came out with pitchforks. Someone found a picture of her giving the middle figure to a photographer. Ghastly stuff like that. Obligatory pining for the good old days when everything was so much more wholesome. These kids today. . .. I'm telling you . . . |

I'm not trying to dump on Berry, just amazed by older people who rant and rave about Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc. The "everything is always getting worse and worse camp." Think that might be a requirement when you accept your AARP card. https://theoutline.com/post/1258/why...ut-chuck-berry |
And this year's award for extreme condescension is goes to.........
