Do you think that this Dutch Leonard autograph is legit
1 Attachment(s)
I just recently purchased New York Yankees scorecards from 1928 -1970. In the 1938 scorecard, on top of one of the score sheets was an autograph of Dutch Leonard. The Auction House where I won the scorecards claims that the autograph is legit.
I don't have any expertise in autographs and was hoping that someone on this board can give me their opinion. |

Hi,
If you are referring to Emil "Dutch" Leonard, then yes this is his signature. In 1938 Dutch Leonard was a pitcher for the Washington Senators, BTW. Please see the attached photo of Emil Dutch Leonard's signature on a GPC for comparison. Please note that there was another Dutch Leonard (HB "Dutch" Leonard) that pitched for the Red Sox and Tigers a couple of decades earlier. This is not his autograph, FWIW. |
Thank you Scott for the confirmation. It was the Dutch Leonard from the Senators. The scorecard itself was from a NY Yankee-Washington Senator game.
Now, if one of the scorecards that I picked up has a Ruth autograph, I can retire. |
