Harry agganis home run stub
Came across this baby in a lot of stubs I bought.
Never followed him or knew much about him but immediately as I held it I felt the history of everything in my hands. Sick feeling. I'd field offers on it if anyone wants it. Only his 6th HR of 11 of what looked to be a promising career. https://sportscardalbum.com/c/j2p412oi.JPG https://sportscardalbum.com/c/6918o316.JPG |
Did any of the other stubs have a tax stamp on them?

I posted about this in another thread. I was looking for a ticket with this stamp...hadnt seen one before. I believe it means that the ticket was bought through a scalper and the scalper had to stamp it for tax purposes. Do you have any Philly based tickets from the 20s-40s with these stamps?

I don't think the stamp indicates it was sold by a scalper.
In 1954, the Federal Tax on tickets was reduced from 20% to 10%. I know that Yankees Grandstand tickets at the beginning of the season have a stamp showing the changes in price and tax (tickets after the 20th home game were printed with the correct price and tax). Since this Red Sox ticket shows a 20% tax and is from early in the season, I'll bet the stamp also refers to this change in tax. |
