Brockelman Auction contest with Diamond Stars Jimmy Foxx + prewar consolation prize!
2 Attachment(s)
Thought I would try something a little different...feel free to shut down the thread Leon if you have any objections.
I consigned ten lots to the upcoming Brockelman auction that ends this Saturday. I am offering this nice 1934-36 Diamond Stars card of Jimmy Foxx shown if someone can guess at least 9 of the 10 lots I consigned. Only one guess per member (no edits) and a guess will consist of only ten lots (must list lots by number). Guesses will be accepted up until 11pm EST Saturday February 11th. I will end the contest if and when someone correctly guesses 9 or 10 of my consigned lots. It can't hurt to participate, and good luck (the only hint besides the one in post #8 that I will be giving is that each lot is within the Pre-WW2 category). For obvious reasons Net54 member 'SB1' is excluded from entering this contest, as I believe this is Mr. Brockelman himself. Don't even think about it SB1. ***Added auction day bonus*** if no one guesses the 9 (or 10, for crying out loud) I will send out a prewar card (1910's, 1920's, 1930's or 1940's, your choice of decade, my choice of card) to the person who guesses the most correctly. In case of multiple guesses at the same level, the first guesser wins it*** So it is time to cough up some numbers! Brian |
Thanks for pointing me to an auction that I had overlooked

Good guesses so far, and I will offer the following info:
One person has guessed 3 correctly (the most so far) Two people have guessed the same lot correctly Since I have provided this additional info, I will allow the previous 6 members to make another guess, so that everyone has an equal chance to snare the Foxx by the tail. Everyone else will only be allowed to guess once. Good Luck! Brian |
Okay, I'll try this again:

Statistically speaking this contest is a near impossibility to win. But if someone does actually win this they should immediately go out and buy a powerball ticket. :D

There is a very slim chance of winning, but it doesn't hurt to try. And if you use you noggin to eliminate some of the 243 possibilities, you can at least increase your odds a little bit. Top guess is still 3 correct. At least this one won't drain the wallet...so everybody cough up some numbers. ***Added auction day bonus*** if no one guesses the 9 (or 10, for crying out loud) I will send out a prewar card to the person who guesses the most correctly. In case of multiple guesses at the same level, the first guesser wins it*** Brian |
Updated consolation prize info to add zing.

Booby prize
Should have made the contest just plain tough instead of astronomically difficult, and had the consolation prize from the start instead of tacked on midway through...ah, the learning curve. Anywho, member ccre was the winner of the contest with 3 correct lots (lot #'s 174, 175, and 176).
PM on its way to the winner. Thanks to all for participating...I will do better if/when I do something again in the future. Brian |
