Any Babe Ruth Auto Experts on Here?
1 Attachment(s)
I see this picture of Ruth signed a bunch. Was curious as to why there are so many... For example, this February's Heritage auction has 4 separate copies for sale.
I have also read some articles saying that it is believed that this specific picture is ghost signed? See here: http://about-autograph-collecting.com/study1.htm Anyone know a lot about Ruth autos and have a strong opinion? Thank you kindly. Taylor |
I'm no autograph expert and have no opinion on the signature itself, but players often bought particular photos in bulk to fulfill autographs requests.

The autograph in the picture you are illustrating is not ghost signed.
The autograph in the picture on my web page, which you linked to, is ghost signed. This picture was used to answer fan mail requests. Late in Ruth's life, when it became difficult for him to sign, many of these photos were ghost signed and still do appear in the hobby. However there certainly are authentic ones available. |
The picture you provided....the Ruth auto is 100% authentic.
