Sorry all, but another question about a Mantle. I just picked this up because I thought the medium was interesting and because it was incredibly cheap. My thought was that it was okay, although it's incredibly faint. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

That is really light... cannot offer an opinion.

I concur...a bit too light for me. Would be a difficult pass in any authentication company for this reason.

Thank you both. I figured it might be a little light to tell from the pictures--it was difficult for me to discern but the first "M" looked okay to my untrained eye. Hopefully it will be darker when I get it in person and that I can post some better pictures then. Thsbks for taking a look!

I don't think it's authentic from I see, which ain't much. The fact that the moon of the first M in Mickey (The only thing you can make out), is crossing over the picture to the left makes me think mantle didn't sign it. It would have fit almost perfectly the the end of his pic IMHO, had he actually penned that piece.

Also, the M is a mess from what you can see and is very atypical. Might be real but considering at least 90% of mantles are forgeries, you have to go with NO

Thanks. The placement didn't bother me given that it was part of a magazine that he since been cut out and attached to construction paper, but the M did look a little atypical. It seems like a weird piece to fake (cost me ~$20 shipped), so I'd assumed it was either club house/secretarial or real. Not a huge investment so no great loss either way. Still like the look of the little die cut Mantle, so it's still going to have a little spot in my safe. Thank you for weighing in (and apologies for the eye strain).
