Topps Rookie Stars Trivia

  1. To my knowledge, there is only one guy on Topps "Rookie Stars" cards for 3 consecutive years, each year with a different team. Name the player, and the teams.
  2. Name the guy that was pictured on Topps Rookie Stars cards 8 years apart. Looking for both, the player and the years.
  3. Name the guy who's 2nd Topps Rookie Stars card was 2 years after his first, and who's 3rd Rookie Stars card was 3 years after his 2nd... and he was not pictured on cards in between.
A hint: Lou Pinella is not the answer to any of the 3 questions (while on RS cards with 3 different teams, they weren't 3 consecutive years)

I know #3 is Tom Hutton -- he's on 1967, 1969 and 1972 rookie stars cards

2. Wally Wolf was on a multiple rookie card in 1963 and 1970, but that is seven years rather than eight.

Paul Ratliff was also on both, 1963 and 1970... but that too was only 7 years. One guy had 8 years in between.

Bob Reynolds Expos/Brewers/Orioles 1971-73

The '71 version of Bob Reynolds RC is one of my favorites as it has three different, unrelated players with the same last name.

That is so cool. Apparently, there is more than one guy as the answer to #1. Bob Reynolds was not the guy I was looking for but correct nonetheless. Still looking for another guy for answer #1.

2. It just popped in my head lying in bed, 1963 and 1971 Brock Davis.

Then you also get instances in Topps cards such as 1962 Gaylord Perry; 1962 Jake Gibbs and 1965 Frank Bork. These cards feature only individual photos but the next time they are on cards 63 Perry, 64 Gibbs and 66 Bork -- you guessed it -- they are on multi-player rookie star cards

Did anyone else pull off this feat before 1982.

Regards
Rich

I thought that was a challenging trivia question, as I had to dig through my set binders to hunt. Thank you!

  1. Gary Peters was on 2 stand alone cards (1960 & 1961) before appearing on the 1963 Rookie Stars card in 1963.
  2. Ray Barker 1961 by himself; 1965 Rookie Stars.

How about Bill Davis, appearing five years in a row (65-69) on multiplayer rookie cards.

Dude. You got out of bed to post the answer to my trivia question? I'm both, impressed and flattered.

I was going to say this. Also, didn't Skip Lockwood appear on them several years apart?
