E90-1 American Caramel Packaging
 

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well.

I'm working on an introductory article about the E90-1 American Caramel set for SMR. I was wondering if anyone out there happens to have the answer to the following questions:

1. How were the E90-1 cards packaged with the caramel? Were the cards wrapped in something to protect them from the caramel?

2. Has anyone ever seen a photo of an actual E90-1 caramel package (or box or whatever the cards were in)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Having hit 119 years ago (sold :(), and 114 recently (sold :(:(), I can say I don't recall many (if any) caramel stains ....... unlike many Cracker Jack ......


........ interesting, never really thought of it, BUT, you have to figure there was some sort of "protection" between card and candy (or maybe the candy only "melted in your mouth -- not in the package" :))

Never seen a wrapper.

I Thought About This a Few Years Back...
At THaT Time, My Quick Guess Was;

The Caramel had an Interior Wax Covered Papar.
THaT Came Over~Lapt, Spilt with the Caramel inside the Wax Papar.
The Card, I Imagine was Placed on Top of the Wax Papar,
Protecting the Card from the Caramels!

My Thoughts Came From Similar Types of Candies
THaT I've Seen Packaged & Wrapped From the 50's & 60's.

I THiNK Altoid Tins still come with the Wax Papar within...

I have seen quite a few letterhead from American Caramel from the time period of the cards but never any packaging. Same with Standard Caramel and a few others. The packaging is much more rare than the cards for obvious reasons.

I would imagine similar to this box with each caramel cube wrapped in wax paper with about a dozen cubes per box.
