Gehrig interview
I've been collecting Gehrig stuff for years and realize this is the first time I've heard his voice in an actual interview. Cool stuff.

Thanks for posting it Steve. Last year when i watched/listened to it, it was the first time i had heard Lou say anything more than the famous line from his speech.
BTW, have you read the Jonathan Eig book on Gehrig written about 10 years ago? Great. If you like Gehrig, you'll devour it! |
I did. Great book.
Amazing to me how old Gehrig sounds in this. I realize he was a sick man at the time, being treated at the Mayo Clinic, but he sounds like he's 65 years old. |
I like how Gehrig drops the names of Ted Williams and Joe Gordon towards the end of the interview as two up-and-coming youngsters. I guess he was also a pretty good judge of talent!

It was an awesome interview

I enjoyed it too, and I didn't think he sounded all that bad Steve.
Thanks for the link. Larry |

Youtube is recommending a bunch of old interviews I'd never encountered before. He's Cobb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqnH5BrRWnk
I can now say that I learned how to pronounce Rube Waddell's name from Ty Cobb. Didn't know that the accent is on the last syllable. |
Is it me, or were men more articulate and genuine back then? By comparison, it's painful to listen to some modern day athletes being interviewed.
