Home Security

1 Attachment(s)
Hey all,

So, I know fireproof safes, safety deposit boxes, etc. have been discussed at length. For me, a great part of the hobby is being able to see my cards whenever I go downstairs, so those are both unattractive ideas; and so my cards are proudly displayed for me to enjoy.

Having said that, I already have an alarm on my home and my collection is insured, but I am curious if anyone knows of a good camera that I can set up and be able to watch through my phone.

Also, and this may sound a bit extreme, but does anyone know about any "red laser" like thing? Even if it's faux, just as a cool deterrent that will give the illusion that I will shock the ever living hell outta you, if you have the "grapes" to enter. Not to mention, it would be pretty cool!!! :D

Oh, and since this is a pre-war thread... Enjoy...

Thanks!

Cameras

I use Arlo security cameras. The set up was incredibly quick and I can view on my phone whenever I want. It's a pretty cool system and makes me feel better about leaving my house when I go out. Between that and my safes, most things are protected.

I have a room full of cards just thrown everywhere. This is what I use for security. This is Bubba Chuck a 85 lb. Pit Bull. He is the best guard dog as he loves to bark at everybody who comes in the house. He is a horrible attack dog though unless you are allergic to dog kisses.:)

I should have mentioned my puppy, Killer, as well :). Cute Pitbull.

My friend in the alarm business always points to my dogs and tells me they are the best alarm system available.

...on the other hand, some of us have the classic 'let 'em all in, they may have food' security system'.

security cams

there are a ton of wa-zoo cameras you can find...i've sold just over 100 on ebay from $30-60 each over the past 8 months and they work perfect. dont spend a lot, you just need to tap in. I also use a Nest camera $175 and you can tap in that way, you can also talk to whomever is in the room as it has a motion alert to your phone...just do a little research and you will be fine.

If you spend the money, you can get a security system that has HD cameras and DVR. They even have cameras that will capture HD all the way down the street sweeping 180 degrees if you want! Most of the good systems, you can hook up to 16 cameras to the DVR. The DVR will record 24/7 for 3 weeks.

What happens when the thief steals the DVR?:) Or do they somehow record to a remote location also?

DVR's can be viewed from your iPhone, etc. You want one that hooks up to your network. These can be hidden anywhere, and then viewed by WIFI.
