1954 Topps Augie Galan with Miscut Back

1 Attachment(s)
Happy New Years everybody!

I stumbled across this 1954 Topps card of Augie Galan in a group of cards that I bought recently. The front of the card has normal centering; however, the back is badly miscut. Augie's card number is not shown, although his birthdate is shown. The bottom of the card shows part of another card (Spook Jacobs, I assume). It's funny that one side of the card is miscut and the other is not. I would have expected both the front and back of the card to be miscut. How common are cards like this?

Thanks!

Not very common to have that much difference between the front and back centering. There would probably be some interest in error collectors in that card. Too bad it's not a T206...

That is very cool and fairly rare to be that off center with part of the same players card on the back. As a error collector I would like that card. Don't think it would have a huge premium but should sell for more than the normal card.

Ditto. First 54 Topps I've seen like that, though obviously, there is (was) a full sheet.

I go through a boat load of cards and do not run across too many cards like this, so I would agree, fairly rare. Here are 2 I came across recently....wrong back altogether on the 56 and the 79 has a MC front (as compared to the back).

Cool 79, most wrong backs are off center because they resulted from the sheets being loaded backwards.

Thanks for posting pictures of these cards. They are very fascinating!

Thanks for all of your responses. I think my 1954 Topps card is very neat. I would like to keep it, even though I will find another card of Augie to put into my set.
