Opinions on price discrepancy???
 

Anybody have any opinions as to why there is quite a large price discrepancy between these two similar cards sold approximately one month apart???

Since my eyesight isn't what it used to be, does anyone notice anything remarkably different between the two cards?
Both cards seem to be slightly off-centered, and the PWCC card appears to have whiter boarders (but that could just be the scanner settings I suppose).
Anyway, just wondering if anything jumps out at anybody...

Daniel, I think you need to look at the bidding history of each auction to get your answer. In the October auction two people, y***6(1437) and d***2(657), really wanted the card. y***6 entered an early very high bid. d***2 came in at the last minute with a very high bid but not topping y***6. But it made the bid amount jump from just under $30 to the winning bid of $123.53. In the November auction, d***2 again came in at the last minute and was able to post a winning bid. This time, last minute bids pushed the amount from around $40 to the winning bid of $56.78. Bottom line, there were two very determined bidders in October with one of them getting the card. That meant that in November, there was only one determined bidder who got the card for much less.

great points....thats why i always look to see where the price point was before THREE unique (non shillers hopefully) got into the action. A sale price when its just between 2 guys really doesnt mean much especially if the winning bidder is no longer going to be buying that card.

So why was Y***6 bidding on the same card in November if he won it in October. Maybe he didn't pay....impossible to tell, but looks fishy to me.

No idea why that bidder done it. I have thrown in smaller bids on items that I already own one of. If I can get a second one cheap I will usually buy it.

I can think of 3 reasons why they might have made the bid.

(1) They want to get as many copies of that card in that grade that they can. (I seriously doubt this is why they did it because they weren't very aggressive in their pursuit.)

(2) They wanted to drive up the cost of the card to get it in line with what they paid a month earlier. (I doubt this is why they did it because they didn't bid nearly as much as they did earlier.)

(3) They wanted to get it at a low cost to help average down the high price they paid earlier. (Like Ben, I would bet this is why they threw in their last minute bid.)
