Election (totally non political)
Consigned some cards to an auction ending mid week. Wondering now if this isn't lousy timing due to the election Tuesday. Lots of people on edge obviously and distracted. Even the NFL blaming the election distraction for slumping ratings. Who knows.
Sales will go throgh the roof if Bullwinkle and Rocket J Squirrel are elected. Vote for Moose and Squirrel. I did!
I'm trying to leave partisan politics aside, but this election could depress anyone. As for myself, I still hope to pick up a couple cards soon.
Vote early and often!
Waiting patiently for it to pass.

I have see some recent sales slip the last few weeks online - shows are still strong if you find the right buyer

Eagerly awaiting Joe's Vintage Sports Cards' exit polls tomorrow evening.:D
Jokes aside, it has been great to be able to come to this board and avoid what is basically nonstop on Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, and every other site imaginable. Yes, there is more to life that politics. Cards. Photos. Autographed balls. Bats. Etc.
I'm working the polls tomorrow. I will try to ask people if they are more, or less, likely to purchase vintage baseball cards depending on who wins. Could be the strangest exit poll question ever!

Part of the problem with the NFL is that yes, you have Green Bay and so forth, but it just doesn't have the "flavor" that college football does, and college football has lost a lot of that. In college, you have different offenses, Michigan has the big house, Florida has the swamp, Clemson has death valley, etc... The NFL is a faceless league and after a while it all looks the same. Granted if you are playing it is intense as all can be, but for a fan it can be boring. The key to the NFL's popularity is twofold. 1) Tremendous betting / fantasy 2) it is once a week, so somewhat of an event.

Well, as expected I was absolutely killed last night on my auctions. Who could have guessed that there would be little attention paid to Internet baseball card auctions ending at 11pm last night?

A Jackie 1949 Leaf PSA 6 sold last night on PWCC for $7800. Was a $12,000 card a few months ago. That's not an obscure card, but an iconic one. Prominently displayed at the Met. Either due to really lousy timing or the correction is really here.
Much ado about nothing. The stock market that was down 850 while all the indecision was going on in the middle of the night is basically sideways this morning. People who have the money to pour into this crap will continue to pour it in. If anything, the oversaturation of some of these cards will be their own undoing.

Opening Day
It will be refreshing on Opening Day to have a Preseident who knows how to throw the ceremonial first pitch, because he has actually played baseball, and looks like it is not the first time he has ever held a real baseball in his hand.
