So, were they real, and was it a good deal? Ruth and Gehrig autos
Just ended. I thought about taking a chance on these, but they rocketed up today.

I asked several people and they all agreed no good.. Sad someone paid $8,000
|
Glad I didn't throw a bid in. The photos are clearly authentic original snapshots. Anyone know where those cert stickers are from?
|
I first saw this grouping of original snapshots back in Aug. from Steve Grad twitter account. I didn't realize they went to Goodwill auction? Did he reject them? Auth. them as good? or just posted about the items?

Interesting...how in the heck did these end up at Goodwill?

Earlier in the summer on goodwill. So I'm wondering if they sold them and the buyer sent them to PSA. Found out they weren't good and then returned them to goodwill. |
Wonder why Grad would even post them to Twitter if PSA rejected them?

No inference that they are bad from his Twitter comment, though that could be a reaction if seeing them quickly and not sitting down with them in front of you. If PSA did authenticate them why is no COA pictured in the Goodwill auction? I have my doubts about their authenticity. |

Goodwill will take anything, they sell autographs all the time. I'm wondering who gave them to Goodwill and why? Especially if they had just been at PSA within the last couple months.
I've got suspicion that they came back bad and whoever submitted them just gave them to Goodwill. |
I know Goodwill is a charity or whatever but I also believe they have a responsibility to return money that may be ill gotten.
|
I wonder what the original owner paid for the lot before sending it to PSA.
They are still nice snapshots.Worth something, regardless of fake autos.Of course, not as much. Clubhouse signatures? |

Look at the pen pressure. Come on man. Were those signed in Bic ballpoint?

I think it would have been safe to assume that these got rejected by PSA since we know that they went through Grad's hands and they aren't encapsulated. Anyone know what those cert numbers are that are shown in the Goodwill pics?
|
I just asked Steve about these in person. He said they were good and should have been certed by PSA. And not sure why goodwill didn't show the letters.

Wonder if we will see them again in another venue? |
Thanks for the updated info.
I put the Cert# numbers listed in the Goodwill auction into PSA registry...no records. Put the numbers in Beckett...no records.... unless I'm doing something wrong..? |
I still think they failed PSA. Because why wouldn't goodwill show the letters if they had them.

Years ago I knew of a large HOF collection that was donated to a public institution. From what I had seen of the collection much of it was fake. |

I wonder if it happens enough times if the IRS could come after some of the scumbags for tax fraud. Or helping to enable tax fraud anyway.

The goodwill description, itself, says "these have not been authenticated". Doesn't that say it all?

I asked goodwill today. And they state they never had these authenticated.

Just noticed these are on heritage for their Feb auction.

Wow, these things are really getting around.

Very interesting thread.
From link Brock posted: |
According to heritage site now they all have full letters from PSA/DNA and JSA
|
They ended up selling for over 20k for them all and now one of the Gehrigs is for sale in the buy/sell/trade section.
