Advertisers

I know we need advertisers to provide some revenue to keep the site as good as it is, and that some of them get Emails. I'm ok with that.

I just wish they'd target their ads a bit better and come off as a bit less desperate.
Like I don't need a daily ad for box/case breaks that I haven't ever participated in and probably won't since it doesn't really interest me.

Or that one autograph place that sends at least one sometimes two emails a day promoting stuff I have no interest in at all. Really, two emails a day doesn't make me thing "gee they're selling some great stuff even if it's expensive" Rather it makes me thing "darn, they must be desperate to unload these recently signed things" Since I don't collect the stuff they sell it's pointless.

Or the expensive auction house that sends even more. As many as three a day. Sure, if I've bought from you,(I haven't) maybe a few here and there. But I can't really afford most of the stuff they sell, and at their price levels I can't branch out into Asian art, biblical archaeology, coins, etc. Not that that stuff isn't cool but I don't have the budget of even a small third world country, which is what I'd need to get into all that stuff.

There's a few places that are much more relaxed. Thanks to them for being cool and not a needy nuisance.

You just wait till my show has a bigger ad budget. We're gonna email you FOUR times a day. :)

LOL, good one.:D

I believe you can opt out of the ones Leon sends out for the advertisers. I know I only get the ones from AH's/sellers that I have signed up/bid with.

The ones Leon sends out are just fine. They're not all that often, and most are at least for stuff that fits my interests fairly well.

Of the ones I'm thinking of I know I've never signed up with two of them, the third maybe, since I might have needed to to see pictures or bigger pictures.

There's probably enough info in the original post to figure out what the places are.

And it's not really that big a deal, just one of those things that caught me in the right sort of mood today.

Agreed. Leon is incredibly respectful and selective with the advertising emails. Even if he sent twice as many, it would be well worth it for the benefit of the free resource we have in Net54. Some of the others get old pretty quickly. I get particularly annoyed by some of the eBay sellers that add you to a spam list and send reminders to check out their auctions. If they are selling something I want it will inevitably surface during one of my daily eBay searches...

I get like 5 a day from Steiner to 3 different e-mail addresses. Never bought from them and don't know how they got 1 of my e-mail addresses, let alone 3.
