OT: Wild Thing at the World Series?

My avatar compels me to post this incredible OT news. This simply must happen:

That would be awesome if they would do that! But definitely can see MLB squashing the idea and going a more traditional method of Hall of Famers like Frank Robinson.

Qiot 10-21-2016 08:40 AM

I gotta be honest, that may be the greatest idea I've seen for the beginning of a series. I'm not even a Sheen fan, but talk about your ratings soaring. That's the movie for this generation.

icollectDCsports 10-21-2016 08:50 AM

Ok, if complete with sawtooth haircut.

He should get to walk out from the pen:

I'm really not a Sheen fan and don't think he should be granted any favors, but I do think baseball fans would enjoy something like this. Of course it must be complete with the entrance song for it be done right.

Wild Thing

Awesome idea, but looking at today's Plain Dealer does not sound encouraging. Hell of a marketing idea though.

GasHouseGang 10-21-2016 09:57 AM

If the Cubs make it too, that will be a combined 176 years since either team has won the World Series. You have to do something special for breaking that long of a drought.

The thing that blows my mind is that the Indians of the 90s could never win but this team might.

egri 10-21-2016 10:43 AM

I'm surprised the Indians aren't doing anything with Eddie Robinson. He is the last living member of the 1948 team.

pclpads 10-21-2016 10:55 AM

Next they could pay tribute to Lamar Odom and Dennis Rodman. Oh wait. Wrong sport. Dunno what is a dumber idea. Honoring Sheen or Schilling running for Senate.

Major League is an iconic baseball movie and probably the last good one that was made. I don't think the honor is necessarily Charlie Sheen since the insinuation is honoring Wild Thing Vaughn who was not a real person.

glynparson 10-21-2016 01:01 PM

If the fans

If the fans are calling for it then it would be honoring them not Charlie Sheen. He's not my favorite either but I don't see this as anything but cool if they would choose to do it.

Peter_Spaeth 10-21-2016 01:23 PM

Way too controversial a person. Won't happen.

Game Over!

MLB has spoken on the subject:

How about my favorite announcer Bob Ue... I mean Harry Doyle getting some time in the booth?

Of course you're all over this story...but Serrano really doesn't like you Jobu.

Seriously, an intro like this would be awesome! I'd watch it for sure!! Sheen would need to fire one "just a bit outside"!

If this doesn't happen MLB has missed a MAJOR opportunity :D

Also replace Buck with Uecker that would basically be a dream come true and I guarantee the ratings would spike because of that.

Not so sure anyone would think it'd be honoring Sheen in this scenario. Essentially they'd be using him. He probably even knows that but for god sakes wouldn't you like to come out to that music one more time ???? I know I know..........."I hate that F&*$#%g song!".

jfkheat 10-25-2016 10:18 AM

I agree that something like this would get a lot of publicity. I think MLB would be worried about what Sheen might do or say once he got on the field. We all know he is just a bit unstable.

It would be fun, that's for sure. He was always saying he was 'WINNING'.

If only he had worn more protection when his last entrance song played.
