History of E / M / D cards
1 Attachment(s)
Can someone educate me on the history and pricing on E / D / M cards. I have delved back into collecting about 1 1/2 years ago. There appears to be a high among them around 2012 and a big drop in price since. What do long time collectors think about their future? They are beautiful and can be a nice alternative to T206s that I was initially lusting over.
One example is a recent purchase I made yesterday on an EBAY auction was a really nice PSA 7 Cy Young M116 Black back. VCP from 2012 and 2013 was 5240 in 2012 then 3163 in 2013. I was able to purchase last night for 2140. Hopefully I was just getting a good deal. Would love to see what people think. I attached the card that I won last night. I used the image from older VCP database because it was a nicer image than the ebay seller used. Aaron |
Beautiful card and a bargain compared to a similarly graded T206. Lots of stuff has been up and down. E stuff did have a huge runup and then has pulled back some. Don't follow the D and M stuff nearly as close. Seems like more pulling away for prices for highly graded cards versus middle of the road, so I think you did really well on the Young. Just my opinon, I could be wrong.

I think many E's, M's and D's, like your M116 Young, have reached an under-valued level. They have not enjoyed the recent price increases of other issues, but all thing are cyclical. I do think they have a bright future and will rebound at some point. Myself, I'm drawn to their overall scarcity over most T-issues. Great card BTW! Awesome Young card.

Thanks guys. M116's have been stagnant for quite some time. It's an awesome set so I wouldn't be surprised to see an uptick in value. Love the blue back Wagner. Sweet card!
