W.P. Kinsella RIP
Author died today at 81.
|
For those who may not know; William Patrick (W.P.) Kinsella was the author of the novel "Shoeless Joe", which was adapted into the movie "Field of Dreams".
|
Ease his pain.
Go the distance. RIP |
Kinsella was a great writer and one of Canada's beloved sons.
RIP sir. |
Making J.D. Salinger a character in the book was incredibly brilliant.
|
Very sad. I've been reading his novels and short stories for years and always enjoyed his work.

RIP ,, you wrote one hell of a baseball story.
|
Sad-RIP Mr Kinsella.
|
Just now saw this, can't believe our local paper can run a "special" obituary each day for some Eastern European opera star or a cast member of some movie from the 50's and missed this one, a great writer. Read Shoeless Joe, it is far superior to the movie Field of Dreams. I can't believe anyone here on the vintage card board hasn't read Iowa Baseball Confederacy, that is a great read with many 1910ish MLB players and coaches involved.
RIP Mr. Kinsella. |
both
Bob, I read both when I was young.........great books.....recently ordered both on Amazon for my nephew's 12th birthday....sent him Bernard Malamud's The Natural but his dad decided he might not be ready for it yet....Jerry
