Roger Maris Single Signed Ball
2 Attachment(s)
I had a friend reach out to me this weekend with this Maris signed ball. I am trying to help her ascribe value as it is her father in law's and he is looking to move it. In doing some research on REA, I found (from 2012) a Maris ball personalized and signed on the side panel for $1300 and a sweet spot single signed ball for $6500. Both of those were JSA LOA. Her's is an LOA from Ken Goldin.
I think that I am going to point her in the direction of REA. But, before I do, I was wondering if anyone can help me to make sure that I am not getting her hopes too high and there is something different from hers versus the ones that sold historically? Thanks! |
I'm fairly certain that COA is doctored as Scoreboard only certified signers they witnessed. Also, the ball unfortunately does not look authentic. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for the feedback. Before I gave her any feedback, I wanted to ask the experts. This was the ball that I was comparing to...

I'm 99% positive that Ken Goldin never sold any Maris signed items (unfortunately their early COA's were easily forged).
Looks like someone paired a bogus Goldin COA with this ball to give it the appearance of being genuine. I know that Ken Goldin does indeed check this forum from time to time, so I'm hoping that he can comment as well. |
Bill,
I think you are correct and he also did not have any signings with Babe Ruth. I kid you not,, I had a guy try to sell me a Ruth single ball with a Scoreboard COA. The hits just keep on comin'. |
Lots of dreams are being shattered as people look to move all this forged stuff.

The ball is almost uglier than OP's avatar!! Poor Mr. Mossi, lol. I love seeing the old Scoreboard (Goldin) COA's but it's certainly fake in this case.

Is it a Bobby Brown ball?
