NEW ADDITION - C1885 LACROSSE SPICE TIN NEW ADDITION - C1935 SKI BOOT DRESSING TIN Finally got time...make that made time...to install two new tins I picked up about a month ago...Phew talk about squeeze'n...that will probably be the last of what I can fit in...have to start a new pyramid...actually I have quite a few Euro ones I plan to make a display with... The Lacrosse tin is beyond rare...You very rarely ever see antique lacrosse display pieces...Don't know who was bidding against me but apparently they also new it was rare...I speculate it may have been specifically a spice tin collector... The ski tin, though only from the 30's or 40's, is probably the best ski tin I've seen...Got it cheap probably because of the condition...It was really dirty and the kind of dirt that sort of turned into a stain...I cleaned it up best I could with a combination of lighter fluid to try to get off what appeared to be ancient sticker residue....then tried non abrasive wax which didn't do much to clean it so tried car wax...still didn't work....so stepped it up to polishing compound...worked to some extent...then hit it with the non abrasive wax... Generally most advanced tin collectors are very into condition...me...if the graphics are still strong I'm happy...Actually if I were a condition guy I'd never be able to put this many together and it wouldn't be as much fun...below the latest group shot... |
Those are awesome, Carlton! Like you, I'm more concerned with the object than with its condition. It seems like mint condition means a HUGE premium for many objects.

Hey Carlton, great pick-ups!
And you're right about the lacrosse tin. Antique lacrosse items do and have turned up from time to time in the Canadian cities I've lived in.... but I've never seen that tin. Brent |

Agree-
Those are true works of art :D |
Will do Carlton.
And as always, if you come across any antique hockey items, give me a holler. Cheers my friend. |
Carlton awesome man

I agree! Awesome stuff. Carlton, not sure if you have done so before and I missed it, but would you indulge us with shots of each display in your room(s)? It would be amazing to see the impact of your displays.
