FS: 1939 Trail Smoke Eaters hockey World Championship photos auth & encapsulated

2 Attachment(s)
Original snapshot photos of the 2 goalies for the 1939 Trail Smoke Eaters World Ice Hockey Championship team. These are unique images that are unlike anything else to surface since 1939.
Both of these trading card sized photos have been authenticated and encapsulated by Beckett (BVG).
As noted on the reverse of these photos, they were taken on Feb 2, 1939 on ice before the tournament in Basel, Switzerland. The images are incredibly clear and crisp. Even under a loupe, the tiniest details can be seen.
The first photo features backup goalie Buck Buchanan. He was killed in WWII.
The second photo features goalie Duke Scodellaro. Duke is attributed as being the creator of the blocker pad glove that is used by goalies today. It can be clearly seen in the photo and may be one of the earliest photos showing his creation in use.
These rare photos were most likely taken by someone traveling with the team as they are great posed shots and they found their way back to Canada but they were most likely developed in Europe during the tournament as they are printed on Gevaert Ridax photo paper sold in Europe before and during the war.
2-1/2” by 3-1/2” Gevaert Ridax paper was a commonly used photo paper used during this period in Europe including Switzerland, Belgium, France and Germany.
If you are reading this, you no doubt already know the 1939 Trail Smoke Eaters are one of the most famous Canadian hockey teams of all time.
These photos are pieces of Canadian hockey history. Items directly associated with the team are rare and sought after.

asking price for the pair is $600.00 obo.
Will consider trades for pre-war and vintage baseball.
