Auction House payment rules

1. Payment (including 20% gratuity) is due IMMEDIATELY. Preferably at 3:43 am when you received this invoice. We made clear in the rules you owe us NOW. Certainly before you leave for work in the morning.

2. No paying by CC or Paypal for an item over $2.80.

3. If you send us a check, we'll deposit it after 4 days on someone's desk and then wait a week to 10 days to confirm it clears.

4. Once it clears we will wait a few more days for the smoke to clear and begin packaging your order. Unless that day is too close to the weekend.

5. 23 days after your check has cleared we will bring your box it to the post office.

6. That's how we earn our handling charge. Best in the business.

6. Let me remind you again of rule 1. MOVE NOW!

What, nothing about shipping it to my billing address even though I specifically and repeatedly asked you to do otherwise?

1984 called; they want their method of doing business back.

Pretty sure that is because they do not want to cut into their profit. CC or PayPal don't transfer $ for free, they want their cut also.

I know Mears takes a CC, would never do business with them again but they will take a CC.

The 10 day hold is frustrating. Check cashed last Thursday. The countdown continues...

There are a couple sneaky AH's that automatically charge you an extra 3% on your invoice without noticing if they take Paypal. Not all, but a couple.

Auction House Payments

anybody/anyone willing to "out" the auction house spoken of for future reference - potential heads-up/avoidance - purposes?

I'm either:
(1.) dense/out of touch with specifics
(2.) it's obvious whom is being referenced
(3.) both of the above

For larger purchases from these auction houses I will go to the bank and transfer funds to save the 3%. If the fee isn't worth my time I will just pay it.

He called some companies into question, no doubt. Great articles....

As the original poster, I would say my post (1) was frustration, trying to be humorous and (2) not aimed at one AH at all. More just my general sense in having dealt with a bunch of them. Despite some ridiculous rules (what's the 10 day check hold for? Am I going to claw money back out of your corporate account somehow after the check clears?), most of my experiences have been good. They are running a business, I get it.

(PS. If you are going to tack on a surcharge for a credit card, give me a discount if I pay promptly by check. I know at least one of them does, and it's a nice touch.)
