I was about to purchase it as it was sold as a Phillies Vs Dodgers full ticket... except there was no game played on this day. No idea what to make of this.... any ideas? |
On May 18, 1950 the Dodgers played the Cardinals at home. They won 9-8, scoring 4 runs in the 8th and 5 runs in the 9th.You can get the box score on Baseball Almanac.
Maybe the Phillies game was rained out with whoever they were scheduled to play |
Brooklyn played the Cardinals on May 18, 1950. http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...95005180.shtml
It apparently rained in Philadelphia. https://www.wunderground.com/history...ic=&reqdb.wmo= |

Yea I saw that which is why I was so confused. So this is basically a ticket for a game that never happened. Haha doesn't help me much. Thanks for everyone's help. |
Its possible that it was good for a rescheduled game. If a game gets rained out and they can reschedule on an off day, the ticket would be good for that day.
|
It was a game vs the Reds, that was rained out. Looking at the schedule, I think the game was played on June 18th as part of a double header.
|
Whoever is selling it made a mistake. April 18th the Dodgers played at Philly. May 18th they played at St Louis so this ticket has nothing to do with the Dodgers.
As others have said it looks like Philly's May 18th game against the Reds was rained out and made up on June 18th as a doubleheader. Look at the schedules: Brooklyn: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/team...p?y=1950&t=BRO Philly: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/team...p?y=1950&t=PHI |
Jeez, sorry to repeat what was already said multiple times. Somehow I missed half those replies when I first looked at it. Well, mystery solved anyway...
