Doesn't Beckett Media have anyone check their Ebay listings before they submit them?

I suppose that makes sense. After all, if he is still signing, then he must still be alive. No? :rolleyes:

I think the label may have been written when Mantle was still alive as it's yellowed. However, I also think the same hand and pen may have written the label and signed the ball! :eek:

Either way, an awful forgery for sure. As shaky as it gets.

Years ago I had a guy wheel in boxes of them to try to sell to me. Boxes wheeled in!

Listing removed. Remember there are a lot of Beckett guys that read this board and a few that post. So if one saw it they might have taken care of it, I don't know that for sure though.
Mistakes happen and that signature looks awful even from a non autograph guy...But it's gone now...

I emailed the head of auctions at Beckett and explained that is Chris and Richard said it's bad -- it's bad -- glad it's gone

I show it as still active with 6 days to go. 4 bids up to $92.

ps...how weird, when I put the number in the ebay search it DOES come up...I guess my computer is messed up or something?

pss....just took out the question mark in the first post, after the ebay number, and it now works for me ....I knew something was up...

Frustrating that Beckett is willing to sell a fake and cover themselves with a "we are not responsible" cop out...

It is taken down now but you would think that Beckett would have done minimal due diligence on this ball. Don't they authenticate autographs also???

I got the same stunning response from them. They have now lost any respect I have had for that company!

You will see the item ended earlier this morning. Perhaps a true pulling of the item would be better but there is no way to bid on this item

If a seller cancels an auction on ebay the ebay system will still show that the auction was listed at one time but was cancelled.
As long as they eventually did the right thing, this is a small win.

Every Ebay auction reads "Seller Assumes All Responsibility For This Listing."
