O/T Lincoln Engraving/Print - with autograph? Help requesfed
Family piece that just surfaced. Don't know anything about it. Print? mentions :" entered according to Act of Congress AD 1864 by J.C. Buttre in the clerks office of the Disfrict Court of the Sothern District of New York". " engraved and published by J.C. Buttre 48 Franklin St. NY.

Not an autograph. This is one of a series of president prints I believe. The "autograph" portion was on all of them.

agree w/Tom - and from my personal experience, these are all printed signatures on the engravings. over many years I've stored/kept these as an "exemplar" (known vintage facsimile?) with my vintage signatures, as it's helped me to learn what's what (wishful thinking, perhaps) but w/ all of the alleged genuine/forgeries out there at least I had something to work with. best, DS |
The print itself look original.
