F/S: 1930s/40s LONG ISLAND BROADSIDE BASEBALL
2 Attachment(s)
If you're into the history of the NYC area or more specifically, Long Island baseball history you'll find this piece interesting. If you Google James Barton you'll find he was a famous Vaudeville and Broadway actor who had a passion for baseball. So much so he had a stadium that held 7,000 on the grounds of his home.
He promoted local games. This piece shows his team is named The Long Islanders and they seemed to play local and possibly non-local (Detroit) teams. They also played House of David. I would put this piece right around 1938-40. $30ppd. Pm please. Thanks for looking. -peter |
Interesting piece, but for clarification please note the following.
It is neither NYC or Queens. North Lindenhurst is on Long Island in Suffolk County. The Day/Date combinations on it don't match up with 1938, 1939, or 1940, so it's not from those years. |
Tim thank so much. I was thinking of a totally different area. Absolute brain outage on my part. Thanks for the correction! Peter
